BREAKING NEWS
The TOLGA Close-Range Air Defense System, developed by MKE, was presented to a 64-member international delegation comprising military attachés and civilian and official representatives from 24 countries during operational tests conducted at the Ministry of National Defence's Firing, Test and Evaluation Group Command. During the firing exercise, the system achieved a 100 percent success rate across seven different threat scenarios including kamikaze drones, swarm drone attacks, and fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles.
MKE's TOLGA system was developed following an "Effective – Simple – Cost-Efficient" design philosophy, providing an integrated air defense solution. Through its modular architecture, the system delivers layered protection against varying threat levels, offering a comprehensive response to modern asymmetric air threats. TOLGA's components include 12.7 mm and 20 mm vehicle-mounted gun systems, anti-drone ammunition in various calibers, GÖKBÖRÜ AESA radar, acoustic detection system, electro-optical sensors, electronic jamming (jammer) system, and advanced command and control infrastructure.
The system's first defensive layer employs radar, electro-optical sensors, and electronic jamming to detect threat objects and conduct soft-kill operations up to 10 kilometers away. When electronic countermeasures prove insufficient, the hard-kill (physical destruction) layer engages. Gun systems manufactured by MKE in 12.7 mm, 20 mm, and 35 mm calibers, along with specially developed particulate anti-drone ammunition, physically neutralize threat objects. This ammunition is optimized for detonation timing and distance, creating a metal particle cloud around the target and providing high hit probability.
The effective range of particulate anti-drone ammunition varies by caliber: the 35 mm version provides effective engagement capability up to 3,000 meters, the 20 mm version up to 1,000 meters, and the 12.7 mm version up to 300 meters. Two PMT-76 Platform Machine Gun systems integrated onto the Mobile Vehicle Platform (MAP DUAL) create an additional engagement layer against air threats using particulate ammunition. The 7.62 mm particulate anti-drone ammunition, usable with soldiers' existing rifles, provides operational flexibility against close-range drone threats without requiring additional platforms.
TOLGA's command and control system is designed for both mobile and fixed deployment, managing all system elements from a single center. The system can be remotely controlled and features manual, semi-autonomous, and fully autonomous operational modes, enabling rapid adaptation to different operational requirements. Future integration of a laser weapon system and the ENFAL-17 missile, both developed by MKE, will elevate TOLGA's multi-layered defense capability to even higher levels.
