BREAKING NEWS
ASELSAN announced that its order backlog reached $30.7 billion (1.53 trillion Turkish lira) at the end of the third quarter of 2026. This figure represents a 32 percent increase compared to the previous quarter. Rising global demand for air defense systems and other defense products forms the foundation of this significant growth. According to the company's financial results, new contracts worth $14 billion were signed during the first nine months of 2026.
ASELSAN stands as one of the most critical components of Turkey's defense industry ecosystem. The company operates across a broad spectrum of products including air defense systems, electronic warfare solutions, radar technologies, communications systems, and electro-optical sensors. Since its establishment, ASELSAN has focused on developing domestic technology and increasing localization rates, playing a vital role in the defense sector. The company's success in international markets constitutes a significant portion of Turkish defense industry exports.
Air defense systems play a vital role in modern military strategy. Systems developed by ASELSAN such as HİSAR-A+ and HİSAR-O+ provide protection against medium and long-range air threats. Such systems require integrated operation of radar technology, missile guidance electronics, and command-control software. The increase in order backlog indicates growing international demand for such complex systems. Additionally, ASELSAN's electronic warfare and cyber defense solutions address increasing requirements in the global security environment.
The Turkish defense industry has undergone significant transformation over the past two decades. While Turkey's defense needs were largely met through imports in the early 2000s, domestic design and production have increased substantially today. The growth in ASELSAN's order backlog serves as an indicator that confidence and demand for Turkish defense technology are rising. The company's net sales increased by 28 percent in the first nine months of 2026, reaching 151.5 billion Turkish lira. Additionally, the export-to-net-sales ratio stands at 18 percent.
In the global defense market, companies like ASELSAN compete internationally by developing systems compliant with NATO standards. In the air defense field, when compared with foreign systems such as Patriot, NASAMS, and Iron Dome, ASELSAN's HİSAR series systems maintain a competitive position in terms of cost-effectiveness and technological capabilities. The company's stock price reflects these positive developments, rising 54.5 percent since the beginning of 2026. Despite stock exchange volatility, investors demonstrate confidence in ASELSAN's long-term growth potential.
