TUSAŞ has achieved a major milestone in helicopter production as Turkey's leading aerospace manufacturer. According to information published in the company's GökVatan magazine issue 146, the total number of helicopters produced and delivered has reached 136 units. The latest delivery was made to the General Directorate of Security.
Since its establishment in 1994, TUSAŞ has been working to meet Turkey's military and civil aviation requirements. The company has developed indigenous engineering capacity in helicopter design, development, production, and lifecycle logistics support. Corporate capabilities have been built through contracts with the Defense Industry Agency and international partnerships. TUSAŞ's helicopter portfolio includes three main platforms designed for attack, general purpose, and transport missions.
The T625 GÖKBEY is a general-purpose helicopter developed with indigenous Turkish design. The platform is designed to perform personnel transport, VIP transport, cargo, air ambulance, and search and rescue missions. First flying on 6 September 2018, GÖKBEY successfully completed test flights on 19 April 2023 with the indigenous TEI-TS1400 Turboshaft Engines developed by TEI. With a total of 83 units on order from various institutions, serial production and delivery operations continue according to schedule. The platform measures 15.87 meters in length, has a maximum takeoff weight of 6,050 kilograms, and carries 12 passengers.
The T129 ATAK Helicopter is an indigenous platform developed to meet the Turkish Armed Forces' attack helicopter requirements. Under a contract signed with the Defense Industry Agency on 7 September 2007, TUSAŞ served as prime contractor. The platform first flew on 17 August 2011, with initial delivery to Land Forces Command on 22 April 2014. ATAK is optimized for high performance in hot and high-altitude conditions. It is equipped with a 20-millimeter cannon, UMTAS, CİRİT, and 70-millimeter rocket systems. It has a maximum takeoff weight of 5,065 kilograms, cruise speed of 281 kilometers per hour, and range of 537 kilometers.
The T70 General Purpose Helicopter has been developed based on the Sikorsky S-70i Black Hawk platform. TUSAŞ serves as prime contractor in this program. The platform is designed for personnel transport, search and rescue, firefighting, and logistics support missions. Measuring 19.76 meters in length, with a maximum takeoff weight of 9,979 kilograms, it carries 11-14 passengers. The T70 operates at a cruise speed of 282 kilometers per hour with a range of 592 kilometers. Beyond these three platforms, TUSAŞ continues to enhance Turkey's helicopter technology capabilities through projects such as the T925 General Purpose Helicopter and Heavy-Class Attack Helicopter.
