BREAKING NEWS
Baykar's Bayraktar TB2 unmanned aerial system continues to be equipped with new capabilities to meet dynamic operational environments. In recent testing, the Bayraktar TB2 platform conducted integrated operations with Skydagger-manufactured FPV kamikaze drones, achieving precise strikes on designated targets. Launched from Keşan Flight Training and Test Center with 16 FPV drones, the system transited to the test range where two drones were deployed from Bayraktar TB2. Controlled by ground-independent operators through communications links established via Bayraktar TB2, the drones navigated to their targets with precision, with impact sequences captured on camera.
Baykar has financed all its projects through indigenous resources since inception, establishing itself as a critical player within Turkey's defense industrial ecosystem. The company has adopted a strategic approach to national and original technology development, investing heavily in research and development activities to become a global actor in unmanned aerial vehicles. Platforms such as Bayraktar TB2 and AKINCI serve as concrete evidence of the company's technological competence and engineering capacity. These platforms have been developed from design through operational deployment using domestic technology and domestic supply chains.
The integration of FPV kamikaze drones with Bayraktar TB2 demonstrates the multi-layered solutions unmanned aerial systems can provide on the battlefield. Bayraktar TB2 possesses surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities alongside direct targeting capacity through its payload of missiles and munitions. Integration with FPV drones enhances system flexibility, offering operators diverse tactical options against various target types. This approach reflects a strategy designed to achieve air superiority and effectively neutralize multiple targets in the operational theater.
The Bayraktar TB2 platform has undergone continuous development and enhancement with new capabilities since its initial operational deployment. Although originally designed for surveillance and reconnaissance missions, the system has evolved into a multi-purpose platform with added weapons-carrying capacity. Today, Bayraktar TB2 operates globally in various missions and performs successfully across different combat environments. The system continues to be refined through software updates and hardware improvements.
In the global unmanned aerial vehicle market, Baykar maintained its position as the sector's largest exporter in 2025 with an export volume of $2.2 billion. The company derives 90 percent of its revenue from international sales, playing a leading role in Turkey's high-technology exports. Export agreements signed with 36 countries for Bayraktar TB2 and 16 countries for AKINCI demonstrate global demand for these systems. This success indicates Turkey has achieved a competitive position in the world defense and aerospace market. Having independently generated one-third of defense sector exports in 2023 and one-quarter in 2024, Baykar has positioned Turkey as a leading nation in the global UAV market.
