BREAKING NEWS
The number of HÜRKUŞ basic training aircraft in the Turkish Air Force Command inventory has reached four units. Two additional aircraft were operationalized following acceptance procedures conducted by the Defense Industry Agency and the Air Force Command. SSB President Haluk Görgün emphasized that deliveries are proceeding according to the planned schedule, stating that "We continue to deliver our HÜRKUŞ aircraft, which will train the pilots of the future, as planned."
HÜRKUŞ, developed by TUSAŞ, represents Turkey's first domestically-designed and manufactured military training aircraft. The project exemplifies the strength of the defense industry ecosystem through collaboration with numerous Turkish organizations. Avionics systems are supplied by ASELSAN, air conditioning solutions by TASECS, digital video recording systems by HAVELSAN, and backup flight instruments by KAREL. Flight and control systems are provided by TUSAŞ, ANDAR, and TAAC. This structure demonstrates the Turkish defense sector's localization capacity and multi-disciplinary project management capabilities.
HÜRKUŞ forms the initial phase of a pilot training progression that extends from basic flight training through the advanced jet trainer HÜRJET to the indigenous fighter aircraft KAAN. This three-platform training chain constitutes the foundation of Turkish Air Force pilot development strategy. Future pilots will learn to fly on these Turkish-engineered platforms and develop their aviation skills progressively. In previous statements, the SSB President described the aircraft as "more agile, equipped with advanced avionics and software, and the best in its class."
The Turkish defense industry encompasses over 4,500 companies participating in approximately 1,500 concurrent projects. The HÜRKUŞ program represents one of the significant initiatives where serial production activities continue within this extensive ecosystem. The development of indigenous and national platforms strengthens Turkey's independence in defense technology while simultaneously enhancing industrial capacity and employment potential. The program's success plays a critical role in achieving the nation's strategic defense objectives.
Globally, basic training aircraft are indispensable components of military aviation education systems. Advanced nations employ platforms such as Beechcraft T-6 Texan II, Pilatus PC-21, and Airbus H125 in their training programs. HÜRKUŞ's design conforming to these international standards and its domestic production demonstrate Turkey's advancement in defense technology. Deliveries are planned to continue incrementally according to the program schedule, thereby meeting the operational requirements of the Air Force Command.
