Baykar has successfully tested the Bayraktar TB2 unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) with Skydagger first-person view (FPV) kamikaze drones. The trial demonstrated the platform's ability to carry, deploy and coordinate smaller airborne systems for precision strikes. According to Baykar's statement, this latest test forms part of ongoing efforts to equip the domestically developed Bayraktar TB2 with advanced capabilities tailored to evolving battlefield requirements.
During the test, the Bayraktar TB2 took off from Keşan Flight Training and Test Center carrying 16 Skydagger FPV kamikaze drones and proceeded to the designated testing area. Once over the test range, the aircraft released two FPV drones, which were remotely operated through a communications link established via the Bayraktar TB2. Controlled by ground-based operators, the drones successfully struck their designated targets with precision, demonstrating the platform's ability to serve as an airborne launch and communications hub for smaller strike systems. Footage released from the test showed the FPV drones approaching and impacting their targets.
Baykar occupies a significant position within Turkey's domestic defense industrial ecosystem. Since its establishment, the company has financed all its projects through its own resources and has emerged as a global leader in the unmanned aerial vehicle market. Platforms such as Bayraktar TB2 and Bayraktar AKINCI hold important positions in Turkey's high-technology exports. In recent years, the company has generated approximately 90 percent of its revenue through exports, thereby strengthening Turkey's global competitiveness in the defense and aerospace sectors.
The Bayraktar TB2 represents a significant milestone in unmanned combat aerial vehicles. The platform is designed with advanced sensor systems, extended endurance and high payload capacity. Its ability to carry smaller systems such as Skydagger FPV drones demonstrates the TB2's operational flexibility and multi-mission potential. Such integration enables more effective and adaptable air power structures across diverse combat scenarios. In international defense industry standards, similar multi-mission platform concepts are evident in systems such as the MQ-9B Reaper and other advanced UCAV platforms.
In 2025, Baykar achieved 2.2 billion dollars in exports, maintaining its position as the world's largest unmanned aerial vehicle exporter for a third consecutive year. The company ranked among Turkey's top 10 exporters across all industries in 2023, 2024 and 2025, receiving the Export Champions Award in each of those years. Export agreements have been signed with 36 countries for the Bayraktar TB2 and 16 countries for the more advanced Bayraktar AKINCI, bringing the total number of export partners to 39 countries. The company led Turkey's defense and aerospace exports for four consecutive years from 2021 through 2024.
