BREAKING NEWS
One of Türkiye’s leading aviation engine manufacturers, TEI (TUSAŞ Motor Sanayii A.Ş.), has added another strategic capability to the national defense industry through the İNCİ Project, conducted with the support of the Savunma Sanayii Başkanlığı (SSB). Within the scope of the project, the company locally manufactured the Front Bearing Support (FBS), one of the critical components of the TP400 engine used in the A400M military transport aircraft.
The FBS component was produced using the Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy, which is widely preferred in the aviation sector due to its high strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance, and durability under extreme operating conditions. Manufacturing such advanced titanium components requires sophisticated production processes and strict metallurgical control. TEI successfully met all mechanical and metallurgical requirements by employing the vacuum investment casting method.
The front bearing support plays a vital role in regulating the airflow entering the compressor module of the TP400, while also carrying the front bearing and gearbox connection arms. Due to these functions, the component is considered essential for both engine performance and structural integrity.
As a subcontractor in the project, Gür Metal undertook responsibilities ranging from wax pattern and ceramic mold production to post-casting secondary operations. Gür Metal achieved a significant international milestone by being approved as an official supplier for the FBS component by ITP, one of the manufacturers of the TP400 engine. With all technical objectives successfully achieved, the İNCİ Project was completed in line with its planned goals.
