BREAKING NEWS
Turkish defense industry has reached a significant milestone in developing joint operational capability for unmanned systems on the battlefield. Coordinated by the Infantry School Command, Altınay Defense Technologies' subsidiary DASAL Aviation Technologies and Tekatron Technology have developed integrated solutions demonstrating the combination of unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) with various drone platforms.
The system developed by Tekatron integrates MİKON 10-inch FPV drones, swarm-capable MİKON 10-inch drones, a MİKON 15-inch drone equipped with 4x60-millimeter mortar ammunition dispensing mechanism, a MİKON 10-inch drone with anti-tank munitions, and the Arı Kuşu reconnaissance-surveillance drone onto unmanned ground vehicles. This diversity enables a single ground platform to be rapidly reconfigured according to different mission requirements. While traditional approaches configure ground vehicles with fixed equipment for specific tasks, the integrated system allows the ground vehicle to observe surrounding areas from the air and transport different mission-profile aircraft to the operational area.
One of the key advantages of the integration concept is the potential to reduce the need to deploy separate platforms for different missions in certain operational scenarios. When drone selection matching the mission profile is combined with the ground vehicle's mobility, reconnaissance and other tasks can be planned with greater flexibility. However, a ground vehicle carrying multiple drones does not automatically enable all tasks to be performed simultaneously. Vehicle payload capacity, energy infrastructure, communication systems, mission control software, and operator workload must be evaluated together.
MİKON 10-inch drones based on FPV (first-person view) technology enable operators to control the aerial platform using live video feed from the drone's camera. When combined with the ground vehicle's mobility, these drones can contribute to aerial examination of areas surrounding the ground platform and real-time assessment of battlefield developments. Swarm-capable MİKON 10-inch drones enable multiple aircraft to be used in a coordinated manner within a common mission framework.
The drone architecture's configurability with different payloads emphasizes the importance of unmanned aerial vehicle diversification. The 4x60-millimeter mortar ammunition dispensing mechanism on the MİKON 15-inch drone and the anti-tank munitions configuration on the MİKON 10-inch drone demonstrate how the same platform family can be adapted to different mission requirements. The Arı Kuşu reconnaissance-surveillance drone focuses on gathering information from the field and utilizing this data in ground force decision-making processes, enabling examination of areas beyond the ground vehicle's direct line of sight and evaluation of battlefield changes from a broader perspective.
