BREAKING NEWS
Turkey's defense industrial ecosystem, anchored by companies such as ASELSAN, ROKETSAN, and TUSAŞ, has established a strong international position over the past twenty-five years. During Kazakhstan's President Kasım Cömert Tokayev's visit to Turkey, the Head of the Presidency's Defense Industry Agency, Haluk Görgün, stated that defense sector cooperation represents a significant pillar of bilateral relations. Görgün, who participated in discussions between President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Tokayev's delegation, emphasized that cooperation areas would be diversified and deepened within a win-win framework.
Turkish defense industry has matured over the past quarter-century through initiatives aligned with President Erdoğan's vision, developing competitive products and establishing policies that support joint production. This development has positioned Turkey as a reliable partner not only in domestic markets but also in international defense procurement. As a long-term strategic actor in the defense sector, Turkey maintains an open approach to technology transfer, licensed production, and joint development projects with partner nations.
Defense cooperation between Turkey and Kazakhstan plays an important role in regional security and stability in Central Asia. Bilateral collaboration enables concrete steps in defense capacity enhancement, technology exchange, and human resources training. Given Kazakhstan's geographic position and regional influence, the entry of Turkish defense technology into this market carries strategic significance for strengthening both nations' security and enhancing the global recognition of Turkish defense industry products.
Turkish defense industry has achieved major milestones over the past decade in UAV/armed UAV technology (Bayraktar TB2, AKINCI, KAAN), air defense systems (HİSAR series), guided missile systems (ATMACA, SOM, BORA), and armored vehicle platforms (ALTAY main battle tank, MİLGEM corvette). These achievements have increased Kazakhstan's interest in Turkish technology and facilitated concrete negotiations on joint production and technology sharing. Görgün's statement demonstrates that this cooperation is viewed not merely as a commercial endeavor but as a strategic initiative contributing to the security and prosperity of the Turkish world.
In the international defense market, similar cooperation models have been successfully implemented. Technology transfer and joint production among NATO member states represent fundamental approaches to strengthening defense capabilities. Turkey's cooperation with Kazakhstan, aligned with these global standards, will deliver customized solutions tailored to each nation's requirements and capabilities. Görgün's emphasis on "bringing together the accumulated knowledge of our nations" indicates that cooperation will be based on knowledge and experience exchange rather than product sales alone.
