BREAKING NEWS
Russia has announced a new shipment of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to bolster its operations on the Ukraine front. State-owned defense company ROSTEC confirmed the deployment of Zala KYB kamikaze drones, developed by Zala Aero Group and produced under the Kalashnikov Concern. These drones are designed to strike enemy targets with precision, self-destructing upon impact to maximize damage.
Produced at Zala Aero’s facilities in Izhevsk, the Zala KYB stands out not only as a UAV platform but also as part of a broader technological ecosystem including autopilot systems, aircraft structures, and communication technologies. The drone’s distinctive triangular wing design and rear-mounted pusher propeller make it easily recognizable. Capable of speeds between 80 and 130 km/h, the compact Zala KYB offers high maneuverability, making it adaptable to diverse combat environments.
Kamikaze drones have become increasingly significant in the Russia-Ukraine war. Their stealth and ability to carry out sudden strikes make them particularly effective in asymmetric warfare scenarios. Russia’s latest deployment comes shortly after Ukraine announced its ambitious plan to produce 1 million drones in 2024, underscoring the growing importance of unmanned systems on both sides of the conflict.
