BREAKING NEWS
Türkiye’s defense industry continues to strengthen its global footprint as the HÜRJET advanced jet trainer project expands with a major simulator export to Spain. Developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), HÜRJET is currently undergoing testing while serial production activities are ongoing for deliveries to the Turkish Air Force. After securing its first international export agreement with Spain, the project has now gained further strategic depth with the inclusion of a full mission flight simulator developed by HAVELSAN.
Under the current timeline, HÜRJET is expected to enter service in Türkiye in 2027 and in Spain in 2028. In parallel, HAVELSAN is preparing to deliver the simulator to the Turkish Air Force by the final quarter of this year, followed by export deliveries to Spain. This development highlights Türkiye’s ability not only to export aircraft platforms but also to provide integrated training ecosystems, including advanced simulation software and data packages.
Unlike traditional simulator programs that are developed after an aircraft becomes operational, the HÜRJET simulator project began nearly three years ago while the aircraft itself was still under development. HAVELSAN contributed directly to engineering verification processes, cockpit scenario testing, and maneuver modeling through an engineering simulator. This early integration significantly supported the maturation of the aircraft. Similar efforts are reportedly underway for Türkiye’s fifth-generation fighter program, KAAN.
One of the most innovative aspects of the project is the embedded simulation concept. The system allows pilots to conduct advanced mission scenario training during real flights without requiring external visual simulation infrastructure. By integrating the simulator directly into the aircraft, pilots can utilize non-operational flight time for scenario-based training in real-world environmental conditions. This next-generation approach represents a cutting-edge advancement in military pilot training worldwide.
Furthermore, HAVELSAN has begun constructing a new production facility in the Ankara Aerospace and Aviation Specialized Organized Industrial Zone in Kahramankazan. Once fully completed, the facility is expected to become Europe’s largest simulator production and integration center. As national platforms such as HÜRJET, GÖKBEY, HÜRKUŞ, and ATAK gain greater export momentum, Türkiye’s share in the global simulation and training market is projected to increase significantly. The HÜRJET simulator export to Spain marks a critical milestone in Türkiye’s strategy of delivering comprehensive, technology-driven defense solutions to international partners.
