BREAKING NEWS
The GÖKSİM Full Flight Simulator, developed by HAVELSAN for the T625 GÖKBEY utility helicopter produced by Türk Havacılık ve Uzay Sanayii, has successfully completed its development phase and is now ready for delivery. The simulator will be used for type rating, emergency procedures, mission rehearsal, refresher courses, as well as maintenance and test pilot training for GÖKBEY crews. The first users are expected to be pilots from the Gendarmerie Aviation Command.
HAVELSAN officials emphasized that GÖKSİM stands out due to its fully indigenous software and visual database infrastructure. Drawing on previous simulator experience with platforms such as ATAK, Seahawk, Black Hawk, and Cougar helicopters, the company localized critical components including the visual system, projection technologies, airport databases, and environmental modeling. This achievement significantly reduces Türkiye’s dependency on foreign simulator technologies while strengthening national defense industry capabilities.
The simulator has obtained a high-level qualification from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), allowing flight hours conducted on GÖKSİM to be counted as real flight hours. This certification provides major advantages in terms of cost efficiency, operational safety, and pilot proficiency. High-risk scenarios such as engine failure, cockpit fire, bird strike, and other emergency procedures—often impossible or unsafe to perform in real flight—can now be realistically trained in a secure environment.
Equipped with a six-degree-of-freedom motion platform, GÖKSİM accurately replicates the full range of helicopter flight dynamics. The enlarged panoramic visual system, designed to reflect GÖKBEY’s wide cockpit visibility including downward viewing angles, enhances spatial awareness and minimizes disorientation issues such as vertigo.
With increasing domestic and international interest in the GÖKBEY helicopter, GÖKSİM also holds strong export potential. HAVELSAN plans to expand simulator production at its new facility in the Ankara Aerospace Specialized Organized Industrial Zone, aiming to become a competitive player in the European simulator market. This integrated platform-and-simulator approach further strengthens Türkiye’s position in the global defense and aerospace ecosystem.
