BREAKING NEWS
The Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) are preparing for a critical live-fire phase within NATO’s largest exercise of 2026, Steadfast Dart 2026. Conducted between February 8–25 and coordinated from Germany, the large-scale drill will showcase Türkiye’s advanced unmanned aerial capabilities. As part of the exercise, Bayraktar TB3 Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles (UCAVs) are scheduled to carry out live-fire missions against designated targets over the Baltic Sea on February 17–18.
The live-fire activity will be directed from Türkiye’s flagship amphibious assault ship, TCG Anadolu. The presence and supervision of the Commander of the Turkish Naval Forces highlight the operational significance of this phase. The Bayraktar TB3, specifically designed for short-runway takeoff and landing operations from naval platforms, represents a major step forward in integrating unmanned aerial systems with maritime forces. This capability enhances Türkiye’s power projection and expeditionary operational flexibility.
Türkiye is participating in Steadfast Dart 2026 with approximately 2,000 personnel, underlining its strong commitment to NATO’s collective defense structure. The Baltic Sea, a region of strategic importance for NATO’s northern flank, provides a crucial operational environment to test interoperability, deterrence, and joint-force integration. The deployment of TB3 UCAVs in such a theater demonstrates Türkiye’s growing role in alliance-wide operational planning and execution.
Beyond the tactical dimension, the live-fire mission will serve as a demonstration of Türkiye’s domestic defense industry advancements. The integration of naval platforms and armed unmanned systems signals a new operational concept in modern warfare. Steadfast Dart 2026 not only strengthens allied military cohesion but also positions Türkiye as a key contributor to NATO’s future-oriented force structure.
