BREAKING NEWS
Türkiye’s defense industry has achieved major progress in one of its most critical sectors: aviation engines. Mahmut Faruk Akşit, General Manager of TUSAŞ Engine Industries (TEI), shared the latest updates on the national aviation engine projects TEI-TS1400 and TEI-TF6000.
Developed for the GÖKBEY utility helicopter, the TEI-TS1400 turboshaft engine has successfully completed test flights and evaluations. It is now transitioning into the stages of serial production and certification. These processes involve extensive testing and inspections by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), ensuring compliance with international civil aviation safety and quality standards. This guarantees the engine’s reliability for both military and civil use.
The TEI-TF6000 turbofan engine, on the other hand, represents a historic milestone as Türkiye’s first indigenously developed aircraft engine. With a versatile design, the TF6000 is intended to power manned and unmanned aircraft, helicopters, and even naval platforms. This flexibility underscores its importance as a strategic asset for Türkiye’s technological independence and long-term defense capabilities.
Together, the TS1400 and TF6000 projects not only strengthen Türkiye’s position in military aviation but also demonstrate its growing ambitions in civil aviation. By reducing dependency on foreign technologies, these engines highlight the engineering achievements of TEI and serve as a cornerstone of Türkiye’s drive toward greater self-reliance in aerospace.
