GÖKTÜRK-2, Türkiye’s first high-resolution Earth observation satellite developed entirely with national resources, plays a critical role as a strategic space-based asset serving both defense and civilian needs. Operating independently at an altitude of approximately 700 km, the satellite provides reliable and continuous Earth observation capability. With its 2.5-meter panchromatic and 5-meter multispectral imaging performance, GÖKTÜRK-2 delivers high-value data for border security, intelligence support, disaster management, agricultural monitoring, environmental analysis, and urban planning.
Its ability to scan up to 60,000 km² per day, combined with a high revisit rate, enables frequent monitoring of the same regions within short intervals. Real-time data transmission to ground stations located in Türkiye ensures rapid analysis and timely decision-making. As a concrete outcome of national satellite engineering expertise, GÖKTÜRK-2 significantly strengthens Türkiye’s independent operational capability in space.
