BREAKING NEWS
Türkiye’s next-generation unmanned combat aircraft Bayraktar KIZILELMA, developed indigenously by Baykar, has successfully completed its Electro-Optical Targeting System (EOTS) Performance Test Flight. The milestone marks another critical phase in the aircraft’s development roadmap, reinforcing its advanced sensor and targeting capabilities.
During the test flight, the integrated EOTS was evaluated under various flight conditions, including different altitudes and speed profiles. The system demonstrated its ability to detect, track, and designate targets with high precision. Equipped with high-resolution imaging and laser marking functionality, the EOTS plays a vital role in both air-to-air and air-to-ground missions, significantly enhancing the operational effectiveness of unmanned fighter platforms.
Bayraktar KIZILELMA stands out as Türkiye’s first unmanned fighter jet, featuring low radar cross-section characteristics, high-speed performance, and an advanced mission computer architecture. The aircraft is also designed to operate from short-runway aircraft carriers, expanding Türkiye’s power projection capabilities in maritime environments. The successful completion of the EOTS performance test confirms the maturity of its sensor fusion infrastructure and engagement capabilities.
As part of Türkiye’s broader defense industry strategy to increase localization and technological independence, the KIZILELMA program is considered a force multiplier for the Turkish Air Force and joint operations. Future phases are expected to include additional weapons integrations, avionics validation trials, and expanded flight campaigns aimed at achieving full operational capability. This latest achievement not only strengthens the platform’s domestic strategic value but also enhances its export potential in the global defense market.
