Otokar unveiled the first COBRA II armored vehicle produced in Romania at BSDA 2026, strengthening its defence industry presence in Europe.

The first batch of Cobra II 4x4 armored vehicles produced by Otokar for Romania has entered service, marking a new phase in the major 1,059-vehicle procurement program.

Otokar has entered a new phase in its 1,059-unit COBRA II delivery program to Romania, launching local production preparations with a NATO-standard facility in Mediaș.

Otokar stated that local delays in Romania within the COBRA II armored vehicle project will not affect the overall schedule or strategic objectives of Türkiye’s largest single land vehicle export contract.

Otokar has ramped up production for Romania’s €857 million COBRA II order, the largest single armored vehicle export in Turkish defense industry history. The project includes 1,059 vehicles across 10 variants.

Under Turkey’s largest single armored vehicle export deal, Otokar will deliver 1,059 COBRA II 4x4 vehicles to Romania. Production has already started in Sakarya.

Morocco has signed a $136 million contract with Turkish defense company Otokar to procure 200 Cobra II armored vehicles with full support packages.
