BREAKING NEWS
Türkiye’s defense industry has reached a remarkable level in recent years through domestic production, high-technology development, and export success. Today, Türkiye has a strong defense ecosystem capable of developing its own capabilities in many areas such as unmanned aerial vehicles, armored land vehicles, naval platforms, electronic warfare systems, radar technologies, ammunition, missile systems, and command-control solutions. The success achieved especially in UAV and UCAV technologies has increased Türkiye’s visibility in the global defense sector, while the domestic and national production approach has become a strategic power factor that reduces foreign dependency.
Türkiye’s current position in the defense industry is shaped not only by product development success but also by R&D investments, engineering capacity, a strong supply chain, SME participation, and strategic export goals. Numerous projects carried out under the coordination of the Presidency of Defense Industries support the creation of a more integrated defense structure across land, air, naval, space, and cybersecurity domains. Projects such as the Steel Dome multi-layered air defense concept, the KAAN National Combat Aircraft program, naval platforms, smart munitions, and advanced electronic systems show that Türkiye has become not only a user but also a country that designs, produces, and exports defense technologies. However, development needs continue in areas such as engine technologies, some critical subcomponents, advanced materials, and large-scale serial production capacity. Overall, Türkiye’s defense industry is moving beyond being a regional power and is progressing toward becoming a more ambitious player in the global defense market.
