TCG Anadolu is the largest warship ever built by Turkey and belongs to the multi-purpose amphibious assault ship (LHD) class. Designed to operate as both an offensive naval platform during wartime and a versatile support asset in peace missions, it can conduct humanitarian aid, disaster response, military transport and power-projection operations. With the ability to carry helicopters, UCAVs, landing craft and a wide range of military units, the ship functions as a mobile sea-based command and operations hub. One of its most remarkable features is that it is among the first LHD-class ships capable of operating UCAVs, elevating Turkey’s naval drone warfare capability to an entirely new level.
From a technical standpoint, TCG Anadolu includes a spacious flight deck, multi-purpose hangars, a well deck for amphibious landing operations, advanced command-and-control systems and long-duration operational living quarters. These features allow the vessel to perform a wide spectrum of missions—from air operations and amphibious assaults to humanitarian relief and peace-support deployments. With these capabilities, TCG Anadolu has become a central element of Turkey’s Blue Homeland naval doctrine, adding strategic depth and extending the nation’s influence across regional and global maritime domains.
