It is a vehicle produced to provide strategic advantage in low and high-density combat zones, provide firing support, and ensure personnel protection. The FNSS Pars III 8X8 vehicle has an integrated SABER 25 turret with a 25 mm automatic gun with stabilization. It has the capacity to carry personnel, including a gunner, commander, and driver, totaling 11 or 12 persons. It is planned to meet the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces, replacing the BTR60 and BTR80 vehicles that have completed their physical life.
The vehicle, which has a fully automatic 600 horsepower diesel engine, can be operationally varied, and different integrations can be used in its structure. Along with a 12-person crew capacity, its loaded weight can reach up to 25 tons. It can pass a vertical obstacle of 70 cm in height and a trench 200 cm in length. With its component placement and the emphasized balanced design, the vehicle has axle loads that are very close to each other.
This design approach has given the vehicle capabilities like a very strong road grip and short braking distance, even on loose and soft surfaces. The 8x8 driving feature vehicle has the ability to lock all its axles when necessary. Apart from the central tire inflation ability, it also offers its driver the option to adjust different tire pressures according to different terrain conditions. The Pars Family takes its name from Pars, a silent, predatory, and agile leopard species that once lived in Anatolia.
