SİDA, short for “Armed Unmanned Surface Vehicle”, is Türkiye’s next-generation autonomous naval platform designed to enhance maritime security and operational flexibility. These vessels can perform reconnaissance, patrol, target identification and strike missions without requiring onboard personnel. With low detectability, high maneuverability and rapid response capability, SİDA systems are ideal for coastal protection, port security, surface-threat interception and high-risk missions where human exposure needs to be minimized.
From a technical perspective, SİDA vehicles are equipped with advanced electro-optical sensors, radar systems, autonomous mission computers and secure communication infrastructure. Depending on the configuration, they can carry missiles, remote-controlled weapon stations and electronic-warfare modules, offering significant firepower on a compact platform. SİDA units can operate through remote control or in fully autonomous modes, and even function in swarm formations, enabling coordinated engagement against multiple threats simultaneously. These characteristics position SİDA as a cost-effective and highly adaptable solution suitable for modern naval warfare doctrines.
