The MILAS Active Sonar System is an advanced, indigenous sonar solution developed to detect, track, and classify underwater targets as a critical component of modern anti-submarine warfare. Designed to counter threats such as submarines, torpedoes, and other subsurface platforms, MILAS provides naval vessels with enhanced situational awareness in increasingly complex maritime environments. Thanks to its active sonar capability, the system can effectively scan wide underwater areas even under challenging acoustic conditions, delivering reliable and timely target data. This capability significantly strengthens the Turkish Navy’s ability to counter asymmetric underwater threats and maintain maritime security.

The MILAS Active Sonar System has been developed by ASELSAN under the coordination of the Presidency of Defence Industries and is being integrated into national naval platforms. Engineered in line with integrated anti-submarine warfare concepts, the system is suitable for use on warships, corvettes, and frigates. With its advanced signal processing algorithms, precise target discrimination capability, and seamless compatibility with command-and-control systems, MILAS is not merely a detection tool but a strategic sensor within a multi-layered naval defense architecture. Through MILAS, Türkiye takes another decisive step toward operational independence, indigenous technology development, and sustainable underwater defense capabilities.
