The GÖKDENİZ Close-In Air Defense System is an indigenous, high-rate-of-fire naval weapon system developed to protect surface vessels against low-altitude, high-speed aerial threats in modern naval warfare. Designed as the last line of defense, GÖKDENİZ is highly effective against anti-ship missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), helicopters, and fighter aircraft that penetrate outer air defense layers. With its rapid reaction capability and precision engagement, the system significantly enhances the survivability of naval platforms, providing a robust protective shield in critical, short-range engagement scenarios.
Developed by ASELSAN under the coordination of the Presidency of Defence Industries, GÖKDENİZ has been integrated into the inventory of the Turkish Naval Forces. The system combines radar, electro-optical sensors, and command-and-control elements into a single, fully automated architecture. Its multi-barrel gun system, capable of firing thousands of rounds per minute, enables the neutralization of incoming threats at very short ranges. Designed for national warships, frigates, and corvettes, GÖKDENİZ stands as a vital component of Türkiye’s multi-layered naval air defense architecture, strengthening maritime deterrence and operational resilience.
