Domestic weapon certification processes are a critical approval mechanism carried out to ensure that defense products developed in Türkiye are safe, effective, and compliant with international standards. This process goes far beyond verifying basic functionality; it also evaluates operational sustainability, user safety, and battlefield compatibility. With the rapid growth of domestic production in recent years, certification frameworks have evolved into a more systematic and multi-layered structure for both military and law enforcement systems. In the initial phase, the product’s design adequacy is reviewed, followed by functional tests to confirm that the weapon system fully performs its intended missions.
In the more technical stages, ballistic testing, environmental durability analyses, electromagnetic compatibility measurements, and long-term usage scenarios come into play. These tests aim to measure performance under harsh conditions such as extreme heat, cold, humidity, and mechanical stress. In the final phase, the product is submitted for evaluation under the coordination of the Presidency of Defence Industries, along with relevant military and technical bodies. Systems that receive approval gain the right to enter mass production and official inventories, while this certification also serves as a key trust factor for export capability. Domestic weapon certification stands out as one of the fundamental pillars of independence, quality, and international competitiveness in Türkiye’s defense industry.
