BREAKING NEWS
Kale Jet Motorları has completed production of the 1,000th unit of its KTJ series turbojet engine. This project, conducted under the coordination of the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB), was celebrated at a ceremony held at SSB headquarters with the participation of Defense Industry President Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün. Görgün stated that the journey from developing the first engine to producing the 1,000th unit demonstrates Turkey's engineering expertise and capability in sustainable industrial production.
Emphasizing the economic gains of domestic motor production, Görgün noted that these thousand engines ensure that at least $200 million in resources remain within the country. Highlighting that this figure will reach higher levels as serial production increases, the SSB President stated that the capacity achieved in domestic motor production supports Turkish engineers' knowledge accumulation, domestic suppliers' manufacturing capabilities, and new investments. Noting that increasing serial production capacity contributes to the entire defense industry ecosystem, Görgün stated, "As production grows, this entire ecosystem develops."
Kale Jet Motorları's domestic turbojet engine development efforts, which began in 2013, reached an important milestone with three different engines powering national missile systems entering serial production. The KTJ-3200, qualified and entered into serial production in 2021, powers the SOM Cruise Missile and ATMACA Anti-Ship Missile. The KTJ-1750 is used in the ÇAKIR Cruise Missile, while the KTJ-3700 powers the KARA ATMACA Cruise Missile. While KTJ-3200 has been integrated into Turkish Air Force inventory with SOM and Turkish Navy inventory with ATMACA, the KTJ-1750 and KTJ-3700 engines are expected to enter Turkish Armed Forces inventory alongside their respective missile systems.
Success in domestic motor technologies also contributes to Turkey's defense industry exports. With the export of the KTJ-3200 turbojet engine to Brazil in 2025, Turkey achieved its first jet engine export in history. This development demonstrates the recognition of domestic technology development and production capacity in the international market.
Emphasizing that success in national motor technologies is possible through inter-institutional cooperation, Görgün noted that Kale Jet Motorları, ROKETSAN, TÜBİTAK SAGE, domestic suppliers, and the Turkish Armed Forces work together under SSB coordination toward common objectives. Stating that Turkey's defense industry production ecosystem contributes to international competitiveness, Görgün indicated that future goals include developing new engines, increasing serial production capacity, and advancing national motor technology achievements through the contributions of young engineers.
