BREAKING NEWS
Kale Jet Engines has delivered the 1000th unit of its KTJ Series motor in an official ceremony held at the Defense Industry Agency (SSB) Nuri Demirağ Conference Hall. Senior executives and project teams from Turkey's defense sector attended the event. This delivery represents one of the most significant indicators of Turkey's steady progress toward localization and independence in the defense industry.
In the past, national missile systems developed by ROKETSAN—including SOM, ATMACA, ÇAKIR, and KARA ATMACA—relied on foreign-sourced engines. This dependency created critical constraints on production schedules, export decisions, and supply chain security. Embargoes and authorization processes directly affected the production and sales planning of Turkish missiles. The development and serial production of Kale Jet Engines' KTJ Series motor has eliminated this critical vulnerability. Turkey can now power its domestically developed missiles with domestic engines, achieving complete independence in production and export decisions.
The success of Kale Jet Engines is the result of collaboration within Turkey's defense industry ecosystem. Under SSB coordination, Kale, ROKETSAN, TÜBİTAK SAGE, and hundreds of supplier companies have worked toward a common goal. Engineers who designed the missiles and teams who developed the engines, material suppliers, processing technicians, and test teams have all been part of the same vision. The operational experience of the Turkish Armed Forces has guided this ecosystem structure. Throughout the project, approximately 200 million dollars in resources remained within the country, generating domestic industry growth and employment.
Osman Okyay, Deputy Chairman of Kale Group, stated that four new motor projects are being developed in parallel. Jet engine manufacturing occupies a very special and strategic position in the mechanical sector. International knowledge in this field is limited, and engineering solutions are developed entirely with domestic capabilities. Completion of these new projects will further strengthen Turkey's defense industry capacity.
The localization rate has increased from the 20 percent range to above 80 percent over the past twenty-five years. Achieving complete independence in critical systems and subsystems is a fundamental objective of Turkey's defense industry strategy. The 1000th motor delivery by Kale Jet Engines represents an important step toward realizing this goal. The delivery symbolizes a decisive move from a country whose production could be halted by external decisions toward a Turkey that maintains security independence, resists sanctions, and controls its own strategic destiny.
