Türkiye’s domestically developed ALTAY Main Battle Tank enters the Turkish Armed Forces inventory today, featuring upgraded protection, localized systems, and a new-generation design.

ASELSAN has equipped the ALTAY Main Battle Tank with advanced, domestically developed systems that enhance firepower, survivability, and battlefield awareness to top-tier levels.

Training for ALTAY Tank operators and maintenance crews will be carried out using HAVELSAN-developed indigenous simulators and training systems. A total of 94 platforms will be delivered to security forces.

Actuator and motion-control technologies engineered for the ALTAY tank enabled the development of critical subsystems used in Türkiye’s national fighter jet KAAN and the HÜRJET trainer aircraft.

The first serial-production ALTAY main battle tanks will be delivered to the Turkish Land Forces on October 28. The tank now features a new protection concept, upgraded systems and extensive localization improvements.

Türkiye has successfully produced both the submarine-grade structural steel and the armor steel for the ALTAY tank domestically, marking another milestone in defense industry independence.

SSB President Haluk Görgün announced that the first mass-produced Altay tanks will be delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces this year, with a total of 85 tanks to be handed over by 2028.

Breaking export records in 2024, Turkey’s defense industry drew global attention as its indigenous products reached more than 180 countries worldwide.
