BREAKING NEWS
ASELSAN continues to play a pivotal role in Türkiye’s next-generation armored platform development by integrating a wide spectrum of indigenous high-technology systems into the ALTAY Main Battle Tank. As part of the ALTAY Mass Production Subsystems Agreement signed with BMC, ASELSAN is supplying critical mission equipment for 251 tanks. With the first deliveries scheduled for tomorrow, ALTAY enters service strengthened by state-of-the-art combat technologies that elevate Türkiye into the upper echelon of global armored vehicle producers.
Developed to meet the demands of modern high-intensity warfare, the VOLKAN-II Fire Control System enables ALTAY to perform highly accurate engagements even while on the move. The Remote-Controlled Weapon System, Laser Warning System, Driver Vision System, Internal Communication System, and Tank Command-Control Information System significantly enhance the tank’s combat efficiency. Meanwhile, the ÖRÜMCEK (YAMGÖZ) Close-Range Surveillance System provides 360-degree situational awareness, ensuring the crew can detect threats and navigate complex environments with confidence. Integrated radios and slip-ring solutions further strengthen system compatibility and network-centric operations.
One of the standout technologies on ALTAY is the AKKOR Active Protection System, designed and developed entirely by ASELSAN. AKKOR delivers full 360-degree protection against modern anti-tank threats by detecting incoming projectiles with radar sensors and neutralizing them before impact. This capability places ALTAY among the few tanks in the world equipped with such an advanced protective layer, significantly improving crew survivability on the battlefield.
ALTAY also features the TMES embedded training simulator, which allows crews to conduct mission-based training in a virtual environment using the tank’s actual operator interfaces. This system ensures personnel are far better prepared for real operations by enabling practice on pre-loaded combat scenarios. Additionally, ASELSAN’s national periscope systems—often referred to as the “eyes of the tank”—provide wide-angle visibility, accurate target detection, and enhanced observation performance.
With its comprehensive portfolio of fire control, protection, vision, communication, and training systems, ASELSAN is now one of the few companies globally capable of developing all mission equipment of a main battle tank under one roof. This capability positions ASELSAN as a competitive partner both for new tank production programs and for modernization efforts worldwide.
