BREAKING NEWS
One of Türkiye’s leading defense industry companies, ROKETSAN, continues to expand its high-technology capabilities onto the global stage. During the World Defense Show 2026, held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, ROKETSAN signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Australia-based Electro Optic Systems (EOS) focusing on laser weapon technologies. The agreement aims to develop joint directed-energy weapon solutions and respond collectively to future global customer demands.
A key element of ROKETSAN’s expertise in this field is the ALKA Directed Energy Weapon System, which combines electromagnetic jamming and laser technologies within a single platform. Designed primarily to counter mini and micro unmanned aerial vehicle threats, ALKA provides an effective and modern air defense solution. Having entered serial production in 2023, ALKA stands out as the first and only directed-energy weapon system currently in active service within the Turkish Armed Forces, where it is deployed to protect critical facilities.
Under the scope of the agreement, the complementary technological and operational capabilities of ROKETSAN and EOS will be brought together. The partnership aims to develop integrated and scalable solutions, particularly for counter-drone missions, as well as for the protection of military units, bases, and strategic infrastructure. ROKETSAN will contribute its extensive experience in sensor technologies, command-and-control systems, system integration, and regional defense cooperation to the joint projects.
Commenting on the agreement, ROKETSAN General Manager Murat İkinci stated that the cooperation with EOS would further enhance the effectiveness of their field-proven directed-energy weapon solutions. He emphasized that this strategic step would not only strengthen Türkiye’s defense capabilities but also contribute to the security of allied and friendly nations, supporting ROKETSAN’s goal of achieving global leadership in advanced defense technologies.
Through this strategic partnership, ROKETSAN continues to reinforce its technological superiority in laser weapon systems while advancing the internationalization of the Turkish defense industry through strong global collaborations.
