For the first time in warfare history, a Ukrainian unmanned surface vessel (USV) shot down a Russian fighter jet with a surface-launched missile. Experts note that Türkiye, with its advanced indigenous SİDA and missile technologies, could develop even more capable systems.

The Turkish Naval Forces will launch DENİZKURDU-II/2025, one of the largest naval exercises in its history, spanning the Black Sea, Marmara, Aegean, and Eastern Mediterranean. The exercise will involve 120 ships, 85 aircraft, and special forces units.

Following the success of its MİLGEM and MİLDEN programs, Turkey has set its sights on building a nuclear-powered submarine — a bold move that could place the nation among global naval powers such as the U.S., Russia, China, and France.

Turkey’s most advanced unmanned surface vessel, ULAQ, will be delivered to the Turkish Navy in May. Already in operational use with Qatar’s Coast Guard, ULAQ is the world’s first USV with a signed export contract and will play a key role in Turkey’s “Blue Homeland” doctrine across multiple naval missions.

Bayraktar TB3, the world’s first UAV capable of taking off and landing on a short-deck ship, successfully conducted four autonomous sorties on the Turkish flagship TCG Anadolu on April 22, 2025. The tests were completed without any landing assistance, using advanced AI algorithms developed by Baykar.

Turkey’s HAVELSAN has achieved a new global milestone with its domestically developed ADVENT Combat Management System, now operational in four continents following its export to the Chilean Navy. Experts note that only a handful of countries can produce a comparable system.

Turkey will donate the Doğan-class fast attack craft TCG Volkan to the Maldives. After maintenance and training phases, the vessel will be transferred and commissioned by mid-2025 to enhance the Maldives’ maritime defense capabilities.

ASELSAN has signed export contracts worth $52.7 million with a client in the Pacific region for the direct sale of radar, weapon, air defense, and data link systems designed for naval platforms. The deal strengthens ASELSAN’s global presence in maritime defense technologies.
