BREAKING NEWS
Boğaziçi Savunma Teknolojileri attracted strong international interest at IDEF 2025 with its İLTER Drone Detection and Defeat System, a domestically developed multi-layer counter-UAS solution that has been in production since 2018. Company CEO Cevdet Kaplan introduced the exhibitable İLTER J350 model while noting that the more advanced J400 variant will enter production after September. The platform couples long-range radar detection with RF and protocol-level sensing to create a fused situational picture for operators, enabling early warning and effective interdiction of small and tactical drones.
İLTER’s sensor suite integrates radar detection out to approximately 30 kilometres with RF detection and protocol-aware analysis that can capture telemetry between a drone and its controller. The system displays threat tracks and metadata on operator consoles, allowing defenders to see where an incoming drone originated and the route it is flying. Once identified, operators can trigger defeat measures either manually or automatically — including high-power RF jamming across a 400 MHz–8000 MHz band and coordinate deception (GPS spoofing) that tricks a drone into accepting false positioning data, diverting it away from the defended asset until it falls or lands. Importantly, İLTER also provides capabilities to locate the drone operator — a feature Kaplan emphasized as critical since neutralizing the operator prevents subsequent attacks.
Kaplan underlined operational credentials: more than 500 systems are fielded with Turkish security forces (including the Turkish Armed Forces and Interior Ministry), and exports have been completed to several African countries and to Azerbaijan, with positive performance reports from combat use such as in the Karabakh conflict. He stressed that nearly 1,000 units produced across the company’s product family have been proven in diverse operational environments, and iterative feedback from frontline users drives annual upgrades to match rapid UAS evolution.
At IDEF, visiting delegations from multiple countries prioritized evaluated and combat-proven counter-drone solutions — giving İLTER notable international visibility. Boğaziçi Savunma Teknolojileri positions İLTER as a layered, field-tested answer to the modern drone threat: combining long-range detection, rich protocol intelligence, resilient RF defeat, and operator-geolocation to both intercept threats and enable follow-on law-enforcement or kinetic response.
