BREAKING NEWS
At an industrial cooperation event organized by OSTIM Defense and Aviation Cluster with support from the Ministry of National Defence and the Presidency's Defense Industry Agency, Başoğlu Kablo and Erat Kablo established a sectoral partnership. The two companies signed an intent protocol for product development and technology collaboration in coaxial, data cables, and fiber optics. The agreement, signed by Başoğlu Kablo Board Chairman Tolga Başoğlu and Erat Kablo Board Chairman Fatih Erkan, was recognized as a significant step for Turkey's defense industry.
Başoğlu Kablo operates as a leading enterprise in Turkey's cabling and profile manufacturing sector, providing various products and services to electrical, electronics, and telecommunications industries. The company's collaboration with the defense sector aims to strengthen domestic production capacity in industrial cabling technology. Erat Kablo, recognized for years of activity in the cabling sector and provision of technological infrastructure solutions, brings complementary expertise to the partnership. This cooperation between the two firms represents a strategic consolidation move and technological advancement initiative within the sector.
Coaxial cables provide electromagnetic interference shielding in data transmission and are used in high-frequency applications. Fiber optic cables offer high bandwidth and long-distance communication capabilities in communication systems. Data cables play a critical role in computer networks and control systems. Defense platforms depend on these cabling solutions for radar, communications, navigation, and control systems. Under the protocol, the two companies aim to develop domestic design and manufacturing capabilities in these technologies.
Turkish defense industry has taken significant steps in recent years toward localization and national technology development. Cabling and electronic components form the critical infrastructure of defense platforms, and reducing import dependency remains a strategic priority for the sector. This protocol will enable high-quality cabling solutions developed by ASELSAN, ROKETSAN, TUSAŞ, and other defense companies to be sourced domestically. Consequently, production costs for defense platforms will decrease and supply chain security will improve.
The global defense industry maintains high standards for cabling and communications components. NATO countries apply strict quality and security criteria for cabling systems used in military platforms. The cooperation between Başoğlu and Erat Kablo serves the goal of developing products compliant with these international standards and enhancing Turkey's defense sector competitiveness. Additionally, the protocol-based technology development will create a framework that increases export potential for defense industry products.
