Turkish communications technology company ULAK Communications Inc. has achieved a major milestone by earning the prestigious EYDEP “A Certificate”, the highest competence rating awarded by the Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) under the Industrial Competence Evaluation and Support Program (EYDEP). Valid for five years, the certification recognizes ULAK’s outstanding performance in product development, manufacturing capability, workforce quality, process management, and technological infrastructure.
EYDEP is a structured certification system designed to evaluate defense industry firms across objective criteria such as production, quality, human resources, and technology infrastructure. Companies scoring between 85 and 100 points receive the top-level “A Certificate,” while those between 70–84 and 50–69 earn “B” and “C” certifications, respectively. Holding an “A Certificate” not only validates a company’s technical strength but also grants eligibility to act as a prime contractor in SSB-led defense projects and to bid on large-scale contracts for the Turkish Armed Forces. Firms at this level are also recognized internationally as reliable defense suppliers, enhancing their export potential.
In a statement, ULAK Communications General Manager Ruşen Kömürcü described the achievement as the natural outcome of years of dedicated R&D, production, and quality improvement efforts. “The EYDEP A Certificate demonstrates our determination to develop indigenous solutions that meet real-world operational needs,” Kömürcü said. He added that ULAK remains committed to reducing Turkey’s foreign dependence in communication technologies through innovation and national production.
Known for its work in 5G base stations, secure communication systems, and private network infrastructures, ULAK has become a key player in defense-related communication projects. The “A Certificate” further strengthens the company’s position in national defense initiatives and marks a significant step toward expanding the role of domestically developed electronic and communication technologies in critical military and government applications. ULAK’s success is seen as part of Turkey’s broader push toward digital sovereignty and defense self-sufficiency, paving the way for deeper international cooperation and new export opportunities.
