BREAKING NEWS
One of the major highlights of IDEF 2025, held at the Istanbul Expo Center, was the announcement from Mediterranean Defence Technology (MDT) regarding its export of ammunition production lines to three countries. Showcasing its expertise in technology transfer, technical support, consulting, and training services, MDT revealed that it is currently implementing full-scale ammunition line installations abroad. The company has the capability to deliver turnkey factories for calibers ranging from 9x19 mm to 40 mm, including 5.56x45, 7.62x51, 7.62x39, 12.7, 20, and 30 mm rounds.
Fatih Doğan, Deputy General Manager of MDT, stated that following the successful completion of a domestic factory setup, the company is now managing three international projects — one in a Turkic Republic and two others in the Middle East. Once these projects are completed, MDT plans to launch a new, large-scale factory investment in Türkiye, which Doğan described as a “strategic surprise” that will significantly strengthen national defense production capabilities.
MDT’s turnkey export model goes beyond mere machinery supply. It includes line design, process optimization, quality assurance systems, staff training, and operational commissioning, providing a comprehensive manufacturing ecosystem for client nations. This approach allows countries to establish self-sufficient ammunition and weapons production capacities — reducing dependency on external suppliers and ensuring security of supply during crises.
As regional conflicts and geopolitical uncertainty increase global demand for defense autonomy, MDT’s expertise positions Türkiye as a key technology provider in the ammunition manufacturing sector. With the ability to rapidly establish multi-caliber production lines and deliver them in record time, MDT continues to demonstrate Türkiye’s transition from a defense importer to a global defense systems exporter. The upcoming projects and partnerships expected after IDEF 2025 are likely to further solidify Türkiye’s reputation as a defense industry game-changer.
