BREAKING NEWS
STM, one of the leading companies of the Turkish defence industry, took part in the EFES-2026 Combined Joint Live-Fire Field Exercise with its indigenous platforms and advanced technologies. During the exercise, the company’s naval platforms, tactical mini UAV systems, swarm drone solutions and modern command-control capabilities stood out as key examples of Türkiye’s growing defence technology ecosystem.
STM plays an important role in the modernization of the Turkish Naval Forces through its work on indigenous naval platforms operating in the Blue Homeland. The company’s experience in military ship design, construction and modernization is among the critical factors reducing Türkiye’s dependence on foreign sources in naval platforms. Its participation in EFES-2026 demonstrated that STM is not only a platform developer but also a strong technology provider in mission systems, command-control infrastructure and integrated operational capabilities.
One of STM’s most notable areas during the exercise was tactical mini UAV systems. In modern warfare, unmanned aerial vehicles have become increasingly important for reconnaissance, surveillance, target detection and precision strike missions. STM’s mini UAV solutions provide faster intelligence flow to field units while improving personnel safety in high-risk areas. These systems are considered important force multipliers, especially against asymmetric threats, by enabling rapid response and cost-effective operations.
STM’s work on swarm systems also attracted attention during EFES-2026. Swarm drone capability allows multiple unmanned platforms to operate in coordination, creating a new operational concept for the modern battlefield. Through this structure, drone systems can jointly perform missions such as reconnaissance, deception, target detection and, when necessary, attack. Swarm systems are among the technologies that can challenge enemy air defences and provide commanders with broader tactical options in dense threat environments.
STM’s participation in EFES-2026 also contributed to strengthening the Turkish Armed Forces’ joint operational capability. In an exercise involving land, naval and air elements, the coordinated use of unmanned systems with manned platforms provided important insights into the future of modern warfare. The field testing of STM-developed systems in realistic scenarios marked an important step in proving their operational effectiveness.
STM’s experience in indigenous naval projects continues to strengthen Türkiye’s strategic capabilities in military shipbuilding. Through engineering solutions for corvettes, frigates, submarine modernization and other naval platforms, STM provides domestic and national solutions for the needs of the Turkish Naval Forces. The presence of both indigenous ships and unmanned systems at EFES-2026 showed that Türkiye is moving toward a more layered and technology-driven naval warfare structure.
The capabilities displayed during the exercise also showed that STM is a reliable defence technology partner not only for Türkiye but also for friendly and allied countries. Unmanned systems, swarm drone solutions and national naval projects are among the areas strengthening the company’s export potential. Large multinational exercises such as EFES-2026 provide important opportunities for foreign military delegations to observe these systems closely.
STM’s presence at EFES-2026 once again demonstrated the level reached by the Turkish defence industry in naval platforms, autonomous systems and digital warfare technologies. With swarm systems, tactical mini UAVs and indigenous naval platforms on the field, STM continues to play a critical role in Türkiye’s preparations for the future combat environment. As these capabilities are further developed, they are expected to increase the Turkish Armed Forces’ operational effectiveness, situational awareness and deterrence.
