The Turkish defense industry’s capabilities in command and control systems and defense informatics have once again gained international visibility with a new delivery to Azerbaijan. Some of the critical software capabilities developed by HAVELSAN under the Air Force Information System have been successfully delivered to the inventory of the Azerbaijan Air Force Command. This development shows that defense industry cooperation between Türkiye and Azerbaijan is deepening not only in platforms and munitions, but also in high-value-added software and operational management systems.

Developed in line with the operational needs of the Turkish Air Force Command, the Air Force Information System provides an advanced command and control infrastructure capable of managing the planning, execution, monitoring and evaluation of air operations in an integrated digital environment. The system enables personnel working in operations centers to operate through a common operational picture, manage mission information in real time, monitor critical operational data from a single center and accelerate decision-making processes.

The capabilities delivered to the Azerbaijan Air Force will provide significant speed and effectiveness in operational readiness processes. HvBS supports secure information sharing between different command levels while enabling critical information related to air operations to be displayed simultaneously and missions to be managed according to real-time developments. This structure is critically important for faster planning of air assets, healthier mission coordination and decision-making by command centers based on up-to-date data.

The system’s open and modular architecture allows it to operate in integration with existing command and control infrastructures and to be expanded according to user needs. The selection of this system, developed by HAVELSAN with domestic and national capabilities, by Azerbaijan is a concrete indicator of the engineering level Türkiye has reached in defense software. The Air Force Information System represents not only a software export, but also the transfer of Türkiye’s competence in command and control systems, mission management software and defense informatics to the defense infrastructure of friendly and brotherly Azerbaijan.

As a result, HAVELSAN’s export of a critical command and control system to Azerbaijan has strengthened a new and strategic area of military cooperation between the two countries. The integration of HvBS into the Azerbaijan Air Force inventory will provide speed, accuracy, secure data sharing and integrated command capability in air operation management.
