BREAKING NEWS
The KAPLAN STA, developed by FNSS under the Armored Weapon Carriers (STA) project led by the Presidency of Defense Industries, is a next-generation armored combat vehicle. It has a power-to-weight ratio dependent on the combat load of 21 hp/ton and is equipped with an automatic transmission. It is designed to move in sync with main battle tanks and can adapt to various missions due to its versatile platform design and capability to fulfill a wide range of operational roles.
Mobility:
Equipped with tracks and five road wheels, the KAPLAN STA can move at high speeds in both cold and hot climates, muddy and rough terrains, and on asphalt roads. Its advanced suspension track system reduces vibration and improves traction. Its amphibious capability also allows movement over water.
Armor and Protection:
The vehicle's body is constructed from ballistic materials, offering ballistic and mine protection in accordance with STANAG 4569 levels. It features two isolated armored fuel tanks for balance and personnel safety. The vehicle is also fitted with laser-protected periscopes and a thermal camera system for the driver, enabling vehicle operation in darkness or poor visibility conditions.
Weapon System:
The vehicle's firepower comes from the Remote Controlled Anti-Tank Turret (RCATT) capable of firing KORNET-E and OMTAS missiles. This turret can accommodate two different types of guided anti-tank missiles and also houses a 7.62 mm machine gun.
Equipment and Capabilities:
The KAPLAN STA is equipped with a driver vision system, command control information system, and a navigation system as standard. It also includes VHF/UHF radios for communication and a crew communication system. The electrical system operates at 24 V and includes a standard Auxiliary Power Unit (APU).
General Information:
The vehicle accommodates a crew of five and measures 5.6 m in length, 3 m in width, and 3.1 m in height. It can reach a maximum road speed of 65 km/h and has a range of over 525 km. It is capable of climbing gradients of 70% and overcoming vertical obstacles of up to 0.75 m.
Survivability and Life Support:
The KAPLAN STA is equipped with an automatic fire suppression system, NBC protection system, and air conditioning for life support. It also has smoke grenade launchers and other defense mechanisms for enhanced survivability.
