Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) has officially inaugurated a new aerospace structures production facility in the Türkoğlu district of Kahramanmaraş. This significant investment marks a major step in reducing Turkey’s dependence on foreign suppliers while reinforcing its presence in the global aviation and defense industries. The inauguration ceremony was attended by key figures, including President of Defense Industries Agency (SSB) Haluk Görgün, Deputy Minister of National Defense Şuay Alpay, TUSAŞ Chairman Rafet Bozdoğan, and Kahramanmaraş Governor Mükerrem Ünlüer.
During his speech, Haluk Görgün emphasized that the defense industry acts as the driving force of advanced technologies. He underlined Turkey’s transition from being a technology-importing country to becoming a technology-exporting nation. The newly established facility is expected to play a crucial role in the production of aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), and helicopter parts, thereby strengthening Turkey’s defense ecosystem.
The devastating February 6th earthquakes were also recalled during the ceremony. Deputy Minister Şuay Alpay highlighted the vital role played by the defense sector in disaster management and support efforts, underlining the industry’s solidarity with the nation during challenging times.
TUSAŞ Chairman Rafet Bozdoğan and Governor Mükerrem Ünlüer both stated that the new facility would not only contribute to Turkey’s defense independence but also serve as a vital pillar for Kahramanmaraş’s economic recovery and regional development. With this investment, the city will gain new employment opportunities, while TUSAŞ takes another major step in becoming a stronger player in the global aerospace and defense market.
