BREAKING NEWS
Türkiye’s defense industry has entered a new phase in armored vehicle production. Armored land platforms, already exported to multiple regions worldwide, are now being reinforced with fully domestically produced armor steel. This strategic move not only enhances durability and protection but also provides cost advantages, strengthening Türkiye’s competitive edge in international defense markets.
The collaboration between local steel manufacturers and defense industry companies ensures that vehicles are produced to higher standards and with greater sustainability. Nurol Makina, a key player in armored vehicle manufacturing, is at the forefront of this transformation. Specializing in 4x4 armored combat vehicles, personnel carriers, and mission-specific platforms, the company has carried out extensive work to integrate locally produced armor steel into its designs.
The indigenous steel has successfully passed rigorous ballistic and blast tests, proving its reliability under real battlefield conditions. Nurol Makina has already started using the material in certain parts of both existing and newly designed vehicles. The long-term goal is to achieve 100% production with indigenous armor steel, increasing the overall localization rate. This step not only strengthens the Turkish Armed Forces and security units but also raises Türkiye’s profile in the global defense industry.
Currently deployed across regions spanning South America, Central Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East, Türkiye’s armored vehicles are gaining even greater resilience with the use of local steel. This development is expected to make them even more competitive in international markets. Beyond defense, the initiative represents a critical milestone in boosting self-reliance, innovation, and national economic contribution.
