The Tulpar Armored Combat Vehicle, developed by Turkish defense company Otokar, has been designed to meet the demands of modern battlefields. Named after the legendary winged horse from Turkish mythology, Tulpar is built to support both infantry and commando units in a wide range of operations. With its compatibility to work alongside modern main battle tanks, the vehicle offers flexibility in complex military scenarios.
Its design incorporates the technological benchmarks set by NATO member countries’ armored vehicle programs. Thanks to its highly modular structure, Tulpar can serve in multiple roles including armored personnel carrier, reconnaissance vehicle, air defense platform, and more. It allows the integration of weapon systems ranging from 7.62 mm to 120 mm, as well as mortars and air defense systems, making it one of the most versatile vehicles in its class.
According to Otokar’s General Manager Serdar Görgüç, Tulpar provides superior protection against mines, improvised explosive devices, kinetic munitions, and CBRN threats. Built in line with NATO STANAG 4569 standards, it ensures high-level protection against landmines and ballistic threats. The vehicle has successfully passed extensive tests under harsh terrain and extreme climate conditions, proving its readiness for serial production.
For the Turkish Armed Forces, Tulpar offers next-generation protection, mobility, and firepower. It also holds the distinction of being Turkey’s first domestically designed, developed, and tested tracked armored combat vehicle in its class. Beyond Turkey, Tulpar has already attracted international interest, receiving positive feedback from potential users worldwide. This success underscores the growing global influence and prestige of the Turkish defense industry.
