Held for the first time in Mali with exclusive participation from Turkish defense companies, BAMEX’25 positioned itself as a fast-growing and influential defense meeting point in Africa.

Over the past five years, TAI has signed 14 contracts with 7 African nations, exporting ATAK helicopters, ANKA and AKSUNGUR UAVs, and HÜRKUŞ aircraft. Turkish air platforms are increasingly preferred for their reliability and operational capability.

African countries, particularly Mali, are highly satisfied with Turkish-engineered infantry rifles and locally developed grenade launchers. Türkiye aims to expand its defense partnerships across the continent and enter even larger African inventories.

Mali’s Foreign Minister Abdoulaye Diop said they procured advanced defense systems from Turkey that other countries refused to sell even for money. Diop emphasized that cooperation between Ankara and Bamako is expanding into defense, security, technology and even potential technology transfer.

MKE’s presence in Africa continues to grow, exporting to 23 countries and managing 11 international projects, including ammunition production facility agreements. New contracts are expected soon.

Bamako Expo (BAMEX’25) opens tomorrow in Mali, bringing together the Turkish defense industry and delegations from more than 50 African countries. The fair is expected to strengthen Türkiye’s growing presence and partnerships across the continent.
