BREAKING NEWS
Turkey’s defense industry continues to expand its footprint across the African continent, and one of the most significant milestones in this growing presence is the upcoming BAMEX’25 exhibition. Scheduled to take place on November 11–14 in Mali’s capital Bamako, the fair will, for the first time, host only Turkish defense companies. This setup provides a unique opportunity for Turkey to showcase its advanced military technologies directly to African decision-makers. Promotional materials for the event have already been installed across the city, signaling Bamako’s preparation for a major international gathering.
Organized by the Turkish defense company Prontaron Savunma (The Peak Defense), the event has received broad regional attention. The Malian government has sent official invitations to more than 50 countries, primarily across Africa. Local media describe BAMEX’25 as a “game-changing” event that will bring the latest technologies of the Turkish defense sector to the continent. More than 35 high-level delegations from African states are expected to attend, with major Turkish companies such as Baykar, ASELSAN, Roketsan, MKE, STM, Sarsılmaz, Kalekalıp, ZSR, 3E and others preparing to display a wide range of systems.
The exhibition will be held at the Bamako Exhibition and Demonstration Center, where not only Turkish companies but also the Sahel States Alliance (AES)—comprising Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger—along with the Malian Armed Forces will host dedicated stands. One of the highlights of the event will be its final two days, designated as “Demo Day,” during which foreign delegations and military experts will have the opportunity to test Turkish defense products in a dedicated special operations terrain. This hands-on evaluation feature elevates BAMEX’25 from a traditional exhibition to a real-world capability demonstration platform.
Mali and its neighboring countries continue to face long-standing internal security challenges, including terrorism, border control issues and insurgency threats. These challenges drive an urgent need for modern technologies such as UAVs, armored vehicles, electro-optical systems, radar platforms and advanced mine/EOD clearance equipment. Due to negative past experiences with other suppliers, many African nations are now seeking reliable and proven defense partners—making Turkey an increasingly attractive option.
Over the past decade, Turkish defense solutions have gained significant traction in Africa. From Bayraktar TB2 UAVs to armored vehicles, small arms, ammunition and surveillance systems, many African militaries are strengthening their capabilities with Turkish-made products. BAMEX’25 is expected to solidify this momentum by opening the door to new partnerships, long-term security cooperation and expanded defense trade across the continent.
