BREAKING NEWS
The Bamako Expo Defense Industry Fair (BAMEX’25), aiming to fill a significant gap in Africa’s defense ecosystem, was organized for the first time in Mali with the exclusive participation of Turkish defense industry companies. Held under the patronage of the Malian Presidency and the Ministry of Homeland Security, the exhibition was organized by the Turkish company Prontaron Savunma Sanayi Organizasyon ve Dış Ticaret Ltd. Şti. (The Peak Defense) and quickly attracted regional and international attention.
Taking place between 11–14 November, BAMEX’25 hosted more than 90 high-level military and governmental delegations from over 25 countries. As the first and only defense industry exhibition in the region, the fair generated an export potential exceeding 150 million USD in its inaugural year. With more than 1,200 daily visitors, the event became a key platform for establishing concrete defense cooperation across the African continent.
Harun Saraç, Chairman of the BAMEX Board, stated that Turkish companies showcased a wide range of products, including electro-optical systems, communication and border security solutions, ballistic protection products, weapons and ammunition, drone systems, unmanned aerial vehicles, and tactical textile equipment. He emphasized that the Turkish defense industry stands out in Africa by offering high-quality products, timely delivery, and cost-effective solutions tailored to regional needs.
Due to strong interest, BAMEX will be held in an expanded format in 2026. BAMEX’26 is expected to be three to four times larger than the first edition, with the exhibition duration extended to four full days. Countries such as China, Russia, India, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Azerbaijan, and several European nations have already expressed interest in participating with national pavilions, while Turkish participation is also set to increase significantly.
Saraç highlighted that the exhibition strengthened Türkiye’s strategic positioning within its Africa initiative. Beyond political and economic relations, Türkiye is now increasingly viewed as a reliable and preferred partner in the defense sector. With BAMEX, the perception of Türkiye as a country taking an active role in Africa’s future development, stability, and security has been further reinforced across the continent.
