ASELSAN and BMC signed a contract to modernize Leopard 2A4 tanks with indigenous technologies, strengthening Türkiye’s defense industry capacity.

Developed for the Turkish Armed Forces, the New Altay tank will undergo 6,000 comprehensive tests before entering mass production, ensuring battlefield reliability.

The Altay main battle tank is equipped with domestically produced MKE weapons and ammunition, featuring a 120 mm L/55 gun that delivers greater firepower and durability.

Marking a historic milestone in national tank production after 80 years, the Altay is equipped with a 1500-horsepower engine and advanced indigenous protection systems.

At the delivery ceremony of the new Altay tank to the TSK, President Erdoğan highlighted its advanced, resilient, and indigenous features as symbols of Türkiye’s defense vision.

Led by Nurol Makina, Türkiye’s armored vehicles are now being produced with fully indigenous armor steel, boosting both resilience and global competitiveness.

Equipped with Roketsan’s next-generation hybrid armor, the Altay tank offers maximum crew protection while maintaining mobility, strengthening Türkiye’s defense and export potential.

One of Türkiye’s most significant defense industry projects, the Altay tank, will be delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces on April 23, 2023, symbolizing localization efforts.
