BREAKING NEWS
A remarkable success story has emerged from Türkiye’s fifth-generation fighter jet program, the National Combat Aircraft KAAN. According to a statement released by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ), a critical aircraft component developed for KAAN was produced entirely by a team composed of female engineers, technicians, and specialists. From the conceptual design phase to final integration, every stage of the process was carried out under the leadership and responsibility of women professionals.
The special initiative was prepared to mark International Women’s Day on March 8 and highlights the growing role of women in Türkiye’s defense and aerospace industry. The component produced through this effort was successfully integrated into the KAAN-1 prototype aircraft, demonstrating both technical capability and engineering excellence within the program.
Throughout the project, the women-led team managed every stage of the component’s lifecycle, including program planning, engineering design, production planning, manufacturing operations, tolerance analysis, quality assurance procedures, surface treatments, and final assembly preparations. Such processes require extremely high precision and strict quality standards, which are essential in modern military aircraft development.
The project not only represents a technological achievement but also symbolizes the increasing participation and leadership of women in high-technology sectors. Experts emphasize that increasing female employment in defense and aerospace contributes significantly to innovation capacity, sustainability, and institutional transformation. By contributing to the KAAN program, these female engineers and technicians have not only manufactured a critical aircraft component but also left a powerful mark on Türkiye’s ambitious aerospace vision.
