BREAKING NEWS
Türkiye’s leading defense company, ROKETSAN, is preparing to open a massive defense technology base on a 9,500-acre site in Kırıkkale. Scheduled to become operational in March 2023, the facility is expected to significantly strengthen Türkiye’s defense capabilities while also contributing to the economic and industrial development of the region. This major investment will further establish Kırıkkale as a critical hub for the national defense industry.
The project was presented to the public during an official visit attended by Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank, who emphasized the strategic importance of the facility. Varank highlighted that the new base would mark a major step forward in defense technologies, create substantial employment opportunities, and elevate ROKETSAN’s expertise in rocket technologies and munitions to a new level.
Kırıkkale has recently emerged as a key center for defense investments in Türkiye. The establishment of the Machinery and Chemical Industry Corporation (MKE) facilities and the Kırıkkale Defense Industry Specialized Organized Industrial Zone (OSB) already strengthened the city’s industrial profile. With ROKETSAN’s new investment, Kırıkkale’s strategic location and transportation advantages will further enhance its role as a central hub in Türkiye’s defense infrastructure.
ROKETSAN’s General Manager, Murat İkinci, underlined that the new facility is of strategic importance for Türkiye and will make significant contributions to infrastructure development. He also noted that with engineering works starting in March 2023, the facility’s capacity would gradually expand, paving the way for new defense projects. This initiative is seen as a major step not only in enhancing ROKETSAN’s production capabilities but also in reinforcing Türkiye’s independence in defense technologies.
