TUSAŞ, which plays a strategic role in Türkiye’s defense and aerospace ecosystem, has consolidated its accumulated engineering expertise since 1973 under one roof with capabilities in design, development, production, modernization, integration and life cycle support. The production and flight test experience gained through the F-16 program evolved into a vision of indigenous platform development after the corporate restructuring of 2005; today, TUSAŞ has become one of the key actors in national security and technological independence.
Located on its Ankara/Kahramankazan campus, the design offices, prototyping lines, flight and ground test centers and advanced composite facilities together offer an end-to-end production ecosystem extending from conceptual design to certification. This infrastructure is designed to simultaneously meet reliability, traceability and sustainable cost targets for air vehicles that require the highest levels of quality assurance. For all operational platforms, TUSAŞ maximizes availability through integrated logistics support, training, spare parts, and configuration management services.
Its organizational structure is shaped around Aerospace Structures, Aircraft, Helicopter, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Systems, Space Systems, National Combat Aircraft, and Engineering groups. This model enables both program-based and interdisciplinary work through an agile project management approach. Its supply chain and domestic subsystem development strategies aim to reduce dependence on foreign sources in critical technologies and enhance production security.
The TUSAŞ product family covers the national combat aircraft program targeting next-generation air combat with low observability, sensor fusion, and network-centric warfare capabilities; jet trainer and light attack aircraft solutions; general-purpose helicopters and rotary-wing platforms adaptable to multiple mission configurations; mature MALE-class UAV systems; and new-generation “flying wing” concepts. These platforms are developed within a common architectural approach focused on interoperability, mission system modularity, and high mission readiness in joint operations.
On the space side, TUSAŞ has expertise in satellite design, assembly-integration-testing (AIT), and ground systems. Satellite AIT activities are carried out in facilities with high-standard clean rooms. Experience in structural, thermal, harness, and propulsion subsystems is supported by reusable processes and validated design libraries that reduce risks in future missions.
In aerospace structures, advanced composite technologies deliver weight optimization, fatigue resistance, and life cycle cost advantages in fuselage and wing components. Automation, precision fixturing, and non-destructive inspection processes ensure quality continuity in high-volume production. These competencies position TUSAŞ as a competitive supplier in both indigenous platforms and international programs.
Its engineering approach is supported by digital twin, model-based systems engineering, and configuration and data management practices. Avionics, mission computers, software, structural analysis, aerodynamics, propulsion integration, airworthiness, and certification are managed through multidisciplinary design reviews and maturity gates. Flight test campaigns are conducted under standards that encompass safety, verification-validation, and operational conceptualization.
With a focus on sustainability, TUSAŞ implements improvements in energy efficiency, waste reduction, circular production, and material utilization. Its human resource strategy includes cultivating specialized engineering talent, fostering university-industry collaborations, and enhancing supplier ecosystem capabilities. With its export capacity, joint development programs, and international certification expertise, TUSAŞ is positioned as a globally competitive technology-producing center in the aerospace and space industry.
