BREAKING NEWS
Türkiye’s defense industry has reached another milestone in its efforts toward localization and nationalization. Within the scope of the Weapon Carrier Vehicles (STA) Project, FNSS Defense Systems Inc. successfully delivered the 300th indigenously developed anti-tank platform to the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK). The ceremony took place at FNSS’s Gölbaşı facilities with the participation of representatives from the Ministry of National Defense, TSK, and the defense industry.
The STA Project has produced two key vehicle types—PARS 4x4 and KAPLAN—designed to meet the demands of modern battlefields. Equipped with Remote-Controlled Anti-Tank Turrets, these vehicles provide high-level effectiveness in anti-armor warfare. During the event, Program Manager Kerem Kaplan presented detailed information on the technical specifications and operational advantages of the platforms.
Defense Industry Agency President Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün emphasized the project’s phases and outlined future plans, confirming that a total of 344 STA vehicles will be delivered by October 2024. Previously, 260 units had been handed over by February 2022, and with this latest addition, the 300th vehicle has now entered service.
FNSS CEO Nail Kurt underlined that the project’s success is the result of collaboration not only within FNSS but also with more than 500 local partners, including Nurol Makina, Aselsan, Roketsan, and SDT. The development and production of electronic and mechanical subsystems by Turkish companies highlight the country’s commitment to strengthening domestic production in defense.
The PARS 4x4 and KAPLAN vehicles are designed for versatility, serving not only in anti-tank missions but also in reconnaissance, fire support, internal security, and convoy protection roles. Thanks to their amphibious capabilities, these platforms can also cross water obstacles, providing the Turkish Armed Forces with enhanced operational flexibility and multi-role effectiveness.
