At the 17th International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF 2025), the Defense Industry Agency of Türkiye (SSB) expanded its strategic partnerships through a series of contracts that enhance the operational capacity of Turkish security forces. During the signing ceremony held at the Istanbul Expo Center, SSB President Haluk Görgün formalized agreements across multiple domains — from personal protection to advanced training systems and rotary-wing platforms.
The day began with the signing of the Personal Protective Ballistic Equipment Procurement Project contract between the SSB and three leading Turkish companies: Nurol Teknoloji, Garanti Kompozit, and İpek Savunma. This project aims to strengthen the ballistic protection capabilities of security personnel while reinforcing domestic production and supply chain resilience.
In the weapons domain, several key contracts were finalized. SSB and ASELSAN Konya signed an agreement for the Remote Controlled Stabilized Weapon System Project (UKSS). Additionally, a 9mm handgun procurement project was agreed upon with Sarsılmaz, and a 5.56mm infantry rifle procurement contract was signed with Kale Group. These agreements will standardize small arms across units and streamline maintenance, logistics, and training processes.
The cooperation extended to the simulation and command-control sector as well. HAVELSAN and SSB signed multiple contracts, including the T-70 Helicopter Simulator Project, the Nehir Project, the Aygöz Fire Control and Imaging System, and the Poyraz Drone Procurement Project. These projects will improve pilot training realism, enhance tactical situational awareness, and expand UAV-based reconnaissance capabilities.
The highlight of the day came with the signing of the 57 GÖKBEY Utility Helicopter Procurement Agreement between TUSAŞ (Turkish Aerospace) and the SSB. This milestone further expands the deployment of Türkiye’s indigenous platforms, improving flexibility and sustainability across national operations.
Speaking after the ceremony, SSB President Haluk Görgün emphasized that IDEF 2025 continues at full speed with an intense schedule of contract signings, bilateral meetings, and international collaborations. “Our defense ecosystem — from main contractors to SMEs — continues to grow stronger with each partnership,” Görgün noted.
Overall, the contracts signed on the third day of IDEF 2025 represent a comprehensive modernization initiative spanning personnel protection, firepower, simulation, and unmanned technologies. These efforts not only address immediate operational needs but also aim to bolster Türkiye’s domestic production capacity and global defense export potential in the long term.
