BREAKING NEWS
Türkiye’s gendarmerie units continue to demonstrate their professionalism and precision not only in counterterrorism operations but also in international competitions. This year, the Boran-6 International Sniper Competition, organized for the first time at the international level by the Turkish Gendarmerie General Command, was held in İzmir between November 11–17. The event brought together 40 teams from 18 countries, all competing for the top title in marksmanship.
Representing Türkiye, Gendarmerie Sergeant Major Turan Yağcı and Specialist Sergeant Ömer Özmen from the Hakkari Fatihler Jandarma Special Operations Battalion achieved an outstanding second-place finish. Competing with Türkiye’s first indigenous sniper rifle, the Bora-12, the duo displayed superior accuracy, discipline, and teamwork — earning high praise from participants and organizers alike.
Speaking after the competition, the Turkish team dedicated their achievement to fallen and wounded comrades, emphasizing that the spirit of sacrifice and patriotism guided their performance. The competition took place at the M. Remzi Kızılsu Firing Range in Foça, a symbolic site where Turkish commandos undergo rigorous training that reflects the resilience and strength of the nation’s security forces.
Known for their “Search, Find, Destroy” motto, the Fatihler JÖH Battalion continues to play a critical role in counterterrorism efforts across Türkiye’s mountainous regions. With their extensive training in marksmanship, endurance, and tactical operations, the battalion remains one of the most capable units in the Turkish security structure.
This world-class success once again demonstrates that Türkiye’s gendarmerie is not only a national force of discipline and courage but also an internationally respected unit capable of competing with the best special operations teams in the world. The Boran-6 result is yet another testament to Türkiye’s growing strength in defense and security capabilities.
